About OKTabletop

We are an open community group of tabletop gamers in the beautiful Okanagan region of British Columbia.

We strive to empower community connection through gaming, education, and charitable initiatives. Our regular meetups and special events are safe social spaces open to everyone. Our goal is to encourage respect, friendship, fun, and growth through our shared enjoyment and the challenge of board games, card games, role-playing games, and more.

We welcome everyone interested to join our Discord server and chat with the community, or come out to one of the OKTabletop meetups listed on the Events page.

There is no discrimination at OKTabletop events. As long as everyone is respectful and there to have fun, we welcome individuals of all colours, orientations, plants of origin, and tabletop gaming type of choice.

About The Team

You want to know about little ol' us? Aw, we're touched! Here's who we are ...

The Adventuring Party

This is essentially our board of directors, but it's a relatively flat team structure. Listed in rough chronological order of joining the team.

Hilton Janfield The Party Leader - a typical multi-classer: jack(-ass) of all trades, master of none.

Hilton is responsible for organizing the regular meetups, welcoming new players, and keeping the adventuring party focused. Although not the original founder, he has worked to bring OKTabletop back from the brink of death since 2022 despite being a relative newcomer to the tabletop gaming community. With a diverse skillset and an inability to know when to give up, he takes up challenges, problems, and responsibilities of all sorts.

Amanda Farmer The Paladin - Oath-bound to this divine cause, Amanda secretly does much of the work the Party Leader is responsible for so he feels like he's done a good job.

Nitish Kulkarni The Bard - With his wits, magic, and angelic voice, Nitish helps to promote the group and work with sponsors.

Natalie S. The Rogue - A versatile committee member who helps bring ideas to fruition and does lots of legwork. And sometimes stabs people.

Greg Arnason The Ninja - Works in the shadows to bolster the group and quietly slay our enemies.

Ammon BeardmoreThe Cleric - Boosts the group with their skills in combat, the use of divine magic, and ability to repel the undead.

Ammon is an experienced Designer, Game Developer, and Community Manager. For many years, Ammon was the host of small game-developer socials in Kelowna. Their experience of developing physical and digital games over 10 years at Xenofiction Games, has provided them with insight into reaching various target audiences for marketing purposes of their varied projects. Ammon is an experienced public speaker, ensuring that hosted gatherings run smoothly, and that the ice is broken swiftly. As a born-and-raised Kelowna resident, Ammon cares deeply about fostering the games industry here in the Okanagan valley.

Side Questers

These are some other volunteers who deserve recognition for their contributions.

Mike B.

A nomad devoted to D&D and Tabletop gaming. In additional giving OKTabletop a hand here and there, Mike helps head up the YLW D&D group.

Mason

A prolific DM for hire who helped organize the 24-hour D&D table at OKTabletop's 2024 Tabletop Gaming Marathon charity event and ran the table for more hours than any one person should be expected to.

Ken Justin Local Business Owner

Owner of Orchard City Games in West Kelowna who has graciously allowed us to turn his store into 24 hours of chaos twice now! We may have to bribe him to get in for 2025 ...or just not tell him we're coming - nobody say anything!

Graeme M.

Community event regular and occasional helper, his assistance is always appreciated.

The Honoured Fallen

A list of the fallen, paying respect to the memory of their deeds. (They're not really dead, just moved on to greater adventures, or moved away to explore new lands.)

Kyle C.

A long-time avid player of all types of tabletop games, Kyle helped organize OKTabletop's first 24-hour charity marathon in 2023. He has since returned to his homeland, but makes occasional pilgrimages back to Kelowna to see friends.

Jason R.

The original Allfather of OKTabletop, but stepped down due to other commitments. Still active in the local tabletop community, but not directly involved with OKTabletop. Currently runs the Okanagan Dungeons and Dragons and Tabletop Gaming group on Facebook - pop over and say Hi!

Jamie S.

Helped OKTabletop grow and succeed as a community group in the early years.

Pat F.

Helped lead OKTabletop for several years and continues to be a patron sponsor of the group, though he now mainly works in bigger adventures like Kelowna ComiCon.
